Acqu’e Sale: pizzeria and frusteria

Enjoy a pizza whilst admiring the Gulf of Naples. This is the magic of Acqu’e Sale, where Antonino Esposito greats his guests with many culinary proposals. Starting with his favorite, the Marinara, with various types of tomatoes from the Campania region and Provolone del Monaco Dop cheese flakes, the one with the house name, ‘Acqu’e Sale’, with red and yellow piennolo tomatoes, mozzarella cherries and anchovies from Cetara. The list includes all traditional neapolitan pizzas made with prime produce of the Sorrento peninsula. Fried pizzas, stuffed ones, baked ones and focacce. Last but not least the ‘Frusta Sorrentina’, created and patented by Antonino Esposito. All recipes are made from biological flours and, if requested, gluten free.

Acqu’e Sale: breakfast and aperitif

Pizza Chef Antonino Esposito wanted Acqu’e Sale to be, not only a pizzeria and restaurant, but also a place that remains open from morning to night where people can meet. The day at Acqu’e Sale starts with fragrant brioche and over baked cakes, coffee and hot drinks, juices and fruit salads for breakfast. All to be consumed prior to going to work or taking the hydrofoil from the port. Acqu’e sale is also the ideal place where to have a mid morning coffee or an aperitif prior to lunch or dinner.

Acqu’e Sale: events and receptions

Acqu’e Sale has also a separate dining area which can be booked for private parties, work lunches or dinners. Furthermore, during the year it hosts many events like training courses for chefs and pizza chefs, tastings, musical gigs and literary reviews. During the past year it hosted a series of meetings, ‘L’appetito vien leggendo’ (hunger grows whilst reading), with book presentations and wine and food critics and journalists comments.

(Water and salt)

Water is pureness, energy and nature. Salt is the element which provides significance and flavor to everything.

Water and salt are a quick thought, something which is easily pronounced and has a light sound. Water and salt are the basic ingredients of pizza dough, and any other cooked dish.

The sea is also water and salt, which can be seen from Acqu’e Sale, my home which is always open , at the Marina Piccola, port of Sorrento. From morning to evening. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. For your small and major events.

Acqu'e Sale: the cooking

From the Tables at Acqu’e Sale one can smell the sea. Its a sensorial encounter which begins by looking at the water through the windows and ends with the dishes which are all recipes based on the catch of the day. From the pasta dishes - fresh pasta or risottos with fish and sea food - to fish main courses which can be: oven baked, barbecued, boiled with herbs, foil baked, grilled or fried. For starters, Charcuteries of Italian cheeses, hams, salads and ‘bruschettoni’. As well as the sea food pasta dishes there are many local ones like Sorrento style gnocchi and Capri style Ravioli. For meat lovers, there is vast choice to be cooked on the barbecue. Acqu’e Sale also offers a whole, from starter to dessert, gluten free menu.

Acqu’e Sale: the terrace

As well as a spacious interior seating area, Acqu’e Sale has a magnificent panoramic Terrace for its customers, with a view of the Gulf of Naples. The ideal location, during summer evenings, for a moonlit romantic dinner, to celebrate an occasion or just to eat a pizza with some friends.
